Answers are based on this documentation. AI can make mistakes.

Use the editor

Format page content, insert links and files, use slash commands, and manage saved drafts.

The visual editor writes portable GitHub-flavored Markdown for you.

Format content

The toolbar supports:

  • Headings
  • Bold, italic, strikethrough, and inline code
  • Bullet, numbered, and task lists
  • Quotes
  • Code blocks
  • Tables
  • Dividers
  • Links, page links, images, and file attachments

Select text to open a smaller formatting toolbar near the selection.

Use slash commands

On a new line, type / to insert a block without reaching for the toolbar. Continue typing to filter commands such as /heading, /table, /code, or /image.

Use Page link to choose a page from the site. Page links follow the selected page when its path changes.

Work with drafts

Changes save automatically. The status beside the page shows whether the draft is saving, saved, paused, or needs attention. You can also press Control+S or Command+S.

If another editor changes the page at the same time, Documentello preserves your open edits and asks you to compare them with the latest saved version before choosing what to keep.

Applying an AI writing suggestion changes only the draft. You still decide whether to publish it.
