Supported content

Understand the Markdown features Documentello supports and the content it intentionally leaves out.

Documentello stores each page as GitHub-flavored Markdown. The visual editor handles the Markdown for you, and exported pages remain readable in ordinary text editors.

Supported page content

Pages can contain:

  • Headings and paragraphs
  • Bold, italic, strikethrough, and inline code
  • Bullet, numbered, and task lists
  • Quotes and dividers
  • Fenced code blocks
  • Tables
  • Links to websites, pages, and files
  • Images and downloadable attachments

Images keep their intrinsic dimensions and shrink to fit the available width.

Intentional limitations

Documentello does not support:

  • Raw HTML
  • Scripts or embedded executable content
  • Merged table cells
  • Arbitrary custom components
  • Page-specific layout or styling code

These limits keep editing predictable, published pages secure, and Markdown exports portable.

Markdown imports and exports

Imported content is converted into supported Markdown where possible. Unsupported source formatting may be simplified or omitted, so review imported drafts before publishing.

Exports contain the saved Markdown source rather than generated HTML.
