Manage files

Upload, reuse, replace, download, trash, and restore images and attachments.

Files belong to the site, not to a specific page. You can reuse the same image or attachment across multiple pages.

Upload files

  1. Open Files.
  2. Select Upload files.
  3. Choose or drag up to 10 files.
  4. Select Upload files.

Each file can be up to 50 MB. Supported formats include common images, PDF, plain text, Markdown, CSV, JSON, YAML, ZIP, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint files.

You can also upload a file while inserting it from the editor.

Insert a file into a page

Select Insert a file in the editor or type /image.

  • Images appear in the page with their intrinsic dimensions constrained to the available width.
  • Other files appear as downloadable attachments.

Use clear alternative text for images and useful labels for downloads.

Search and preview

The Files page lets you search by filename. Open a file to preview it, download it, or move it to trash.

A logo or site icon cannot be moved to trash until it is removed or replaced under Appearance.

File trash

Files stay in trash for 30 days before permanent deletion. They continue to count toward storage while in trash. You can restore a file at any time during that period. Owners can also delete trashed files permanently.
