Reader languages

Set the default interface language and use top-level sections for multilingual documentation.

Reader language settings translate Documentello's built-in interface. They control buttons, labels, dates, and text direction. They do not translate page content.

Set the default language

Only the owner can change the site default.

  1. Open Site settings.
  2. Find Default reader language.
  3. Choose a language.
  4. Select Save language.

Pages use this language unless a top-level page overrides it.

Create a language section

A top-level page can set a different reader language for itself and all of its descendants.

  1. Open the top-level page.
  2. Open Page options.
  3. Select Reader language.
  4. Choose the language and save.

Use ordinary top-level pages such as English, Deutsch, or Français when you want separate language sections. Choose a section-based navigation mode if readers need to switch between them.

Imported languages

When an import contains several languages, Documentello can create a top-level section for each selected language. Review the detected language during import and map unspecified or unsupported languages before continuing.
