Search and visitor assistant
Help readers find published information through search and grounded AI answers.
Every published site includes search. The optional visitor assistant lets readers ask questions in natural language and answers from published documentation.
Enable or disable the assistant
Only the owner can change this feature.
- Open Site settings.
- Under Features, change Visitor assistant.
Disabling the assistant leaves ordinary search available. Existing conversations stay visible in the dashboard.
Where answers come from
The assistant uses published pages within the configured knowledge scope. Answers include links to source pages so readers can verify the information and continue reading.
Draft changes are not used until their pages are published.
Choose the knowledge scope
Under Appearance, section-based sites can use:
- Current section for separate products, versions, or languages
- All pages for site-wide answers
The homepage always searches the whole site.
AI capacity
Visitor answers and writing suggestions share the site's AI capacity. Usage resets with the subscription period. If the allowance is used up, AI features pause while ordinary search continues to work.
